In 1857 James Mayne became a beneficiary of the will of his paternal grandfather, John Mayne, receiving £5.

In 1861 James Mayne, aged 20, born in Christ Church Surrey, cigar maker, was with his parents at 9 Lower Swan Court, Christchurch, Surrey.

In June 1865 James Trezise Mayne was present at the marriage of his sister Ann Mayne to Daniel David Alexander Leahy in Lewisham Kent.

In 1871 James T Mayne, aged 30, born in Christ Church Surrey, cigar maker, was with his widowed mother at 1 Lower Swan Ct., Christ Church, Southwark.

In 1881 James Mayne, aged 40, born in Southwark Surrey, single, cigar maker, was with his widowed sister Mary Staples (37) of Southwark, laundress, at 11 Crossfield Lane, St. Paul Deptford, London.

In 1891 James Mayne, aged 50, born in Southwark Surrey, single, cigar maker (at present delivering circulars), was living in Raymouth Rd., Rotherhithe, London. With him was his widowed mother Charlotte Mayne (77) of Southwark London, living on own means.

In 1911 James Mayne, aged 70, born in Southwark Surrey, single, was boarding in Helston Castle Road, Finchley, Middlesex.
