In January 1836 John Mayne was present at the marriage of his daughter Cordelia Mayne to Joseph Rickarby in Fleet Street, London.
In 1841 John Mayne, aged 58, not born in the county, carpenter, and wife Mary Mayne, aged 52, not born in the county, were living in Christ Church, Southwark, Surrey. With them was son John (27), not born in the county, blacksmith. Daughter Cordelia Rickarby and her family were living nextdoor.
In 1851 John Mayne, aged 68, born in St. Austell Cornwall, journeyman carpenter, and wife Mary Mayne, aged 62, born in St. Austell Cornwall*, were living at 48 Great Suffolk Street, St. George the Martyr, Southwark, Surrey. With them was son John (37) of St. Austell*, journeyman blacksmith.
* The census taker has entered the same birthplace for all family members, whereas Mary's husband, John, was the only family member born in St. Austell.

All the rest and residue he gives to his sons the said James Mayne and John Mayne, share and share alike.
Appoints his son James Mayne sole executor of his last will and testament.
