In 1841 Harriet Bain, aged about 50, born in the county, and husband Donald Bain, aged about 65, born in Scotland, merchant's clerk, were living in Portreath, Illogan, Cornwall. With them were children Catharine (20) and David (11).
In 1851 Harriet Bain, aged 63, born in Redruth Cornwall, widow, annuitant, was living in Portreath, Illogan, Cornwall. With her were children (born in Plymstock Devon) Catharine Bain (30), school mistress, and David W Bain (21), coal merchant's agent.
In 1861 Harriet Bain, aged 72, born in Redruth, widow, fundholder, was living in Railway Terrace, Portreath, Illogan. With her were children (born in Plymouth Devon, unmarried) Catherine Bain (37), railway shareholder, and Donald Bain (35), agent.
