Helston.—The Penberthy Charity gifts were distributed on Friday at the Market-house. This charity fund arises from bequests left by Mr. Henry Penberthy, to whose memory a mural monument is erected in the church. The tablet sets forth the amount bequeathed with a description of the articles to be given away by the trustees, and in accordance with the wishes of the benevolent gentleman, the following clothing was distributed to poor and needy individuals,—28 petticoats, 34 gowns, 33 shifts, 25 sheets, 11 shirts, 13 flannels, two skirts, and one pair of drawers, making altogether 147 articles.... The present trustees of this fund are Mr. Frederick Penberthy and Mr. Frederick Hill. It is somewhat remarkable that on Friday last, the day appointed under the will for the distribution, Mrs. Henry Penberthy, a widow lady, whose husband was a descendant of the founder of the charity, was buried in the churchyard at the age of nearly ninety years.
