In April 1899 George John Bray was present at the marriage of his sister Harriet Ellen Bray to Edward Thomas Brown in Horley Surrey.

At the time of the 1911 England Census George J Bray, aged 48, born in Charlwood Surrey, blacksmith, and wife of 23 years Mary Ann, aged 46, born in Outwood Surrey (mother of 9 children, 2 deceased), were living at The Limes, Hookwood, Horley, Charlwood Surrey. With them were children (single) Elsie (21), domestic servant, Walter (13), school, Lionel (10), school, and Geoffrey (6), school.
