In 1891 Thomas M. Samson, aged 43, born in Breage Cornwall, baker & confectioner, and wife Lavinia Samson, aged 47, born in Gwinear Cornwall, assistant in Refreshment House, were living at Beer & Refreshment House, 2 Cross St., Redruth, Cornwall. With them was daughter Louise (14) of Redruth.
In 1911 Thomas Manley Sampson, aged 63, born in Breage Cornwall, master baker, and wife of 39 years Lavinia Sampson, aged 69, born in Gwithian Cornwall (mother of 1 child) were living on Adelaide Rd., Redruth.

By the death of Mr. T. Manley Sampson, of Adelaide-street, Redruth, the town has lost a respected and esteemed citizen. Deceased was 73 years of age and had lived at Redruth the greater portion of his life. He was a retired baker. For many years he took a deep interest in the municipal life of the town, and served three terms on the Urban Council, and was an ex-chairman of the Burial Board. He was an ardent Liberal and a member of the Redruth Court of the A.O.F. The interment took place at the cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E. Woolhouse officiating. A service was first held at the Fore-street U.M. Church, with which body deceased was associated.
