Writing his Will in September 1721 Samuel Martin of Herstmonceux bequeathed £30 to his daughter Elizabeth, to be paid to her when she turns twenty-one. He also gives her his best featherbed and his clock.

Elizabeth's daughter Sarah was born in 1748 in Brightling and recorded as "baseborn, daughter of widow Picknell."

Writing her Will in May 1758 Sarah Carey of Brightling, widow, bequeathed to her widowed daughter Elizabeth Picknall her freehold tenement with back-garden and land comprising 22 roods in Brightling (a rood = a quarter of an acre), which she purchased from Elizabeth's husband, James Picknall. Elizabeth also received her mother's clock and was a residuary legatee.

  Marriage Information:

Elizabeth married James Picknell, son of James Picknell and Mary Stephens, about 1732. (James Picknell was christened on 24 Feb 1710 in Brightling, Sussex, England and was buried there on 7 Dec 1738.)
