At the time of the 1881 England Census Mary Mepham, age 9, born in Plaistow Essex, scholar, was with his parents at 1 Star Lane, West Ham Essex.

At the time of the 1901 England Census Mary E Bavins, age 29, born in Plaistow SX, and husband Herbert G Bavins, age 30, born in Barfield CORN, dock labourer, were living at 14 Hearn St., West Ham Essex. With them were children (born in Canning Town SX): Herbert W (9), Henry (7), Beatrice M (4), and William J (2).

At the time of the 1911 England Census Mary Bevins, age 39, born in Canning Town Essex (mother of 7 children), domestic work, and husband of 20 years Herbert Bevins, age 40, born in Barthfield Essex, dock labourer, were living at 13 St. Thomas Road, Canning Town. With them were children (born in Canning Town): labourer in glass works, Henry (17), painter's boy, Beatrice (14), William (12), May (9), Mary (6) and George (4).
