In 1881 John Ellery, aged 18, born in Cornwall, builder's clerk, was with his mother at 16 East Street, Marylebone, London.

In 1891 John Ellery, aged 28, born in Redruth Cornwall, fishmonger, and wife Mary A Ellery, aged 27, born in Marylebone London, were living at 22 East Street, Marylebone. With them was son James (3) of Marylebone, scholar.

In 1901 John Ellery, aged 38, born in Redruth, wardrobe dealer (own account), and wife Mary A Ellery, aged 37, born in Marylebone, were living at 2 Crawford Terrace, Marylebone. With them were sons (born in Marylebone) Johnson J (13) and John W (3).
