Abstract of the Will of William Hawke of Billiter Lane in the City of London, Builder, written 13 Jul 1822, proved 15 Jul 1824. 3
Whereas by the articles of co-partnership between himself and his brother John Hawke dated 4 Mar 1817 it is provided that if one of the said partners should happen to die during the term of the copartnership, the surviving partner should continue the business for the remainder of the term of twenty-one years, and pay one third of the profits to the widow and children of the deceased. As such, he directs that from his share of the capital of the joint business an annuity of £200 be paid to his wife Susan for her support and for the maintenance and education of his children.
Gives an annuity of £10 to his father John Hawke of St. Issey in the county of Cornwall, gentleman, for the term of his natural life. And after his death he wills the same to his mother Elizabeth Hawke for life.
Gives to his wife all his household goods and furniture.
The remainder of the profits after the payment of his debts he gives to John Paynter of Coleman Street in the City of London, Esquire, and to John Hawke of Billeter Lane his said brother, in trust, for the benefit of his wife during her widowhood. If his wife should re-marry, then she is to receive £300 and no more.
If his son William, when he turns twenty-one, shall desire to be admitted to a share of the business, he directs his executors to admit his son to such a share.
Appoints the said John Paynter and John Hawke co-executors of his will, further appointing them with his wife as guardians of his children during their respective minorities.
