In 1871 Nicholas Gillard, aged 27, born in St. Ive Cornwall [sic], was with his widowed mother in Oldmill, Stoke Climsland, Cornwall.
In 1881 Nicholas Reed Gillard, aged 38, born in Wendron Cornwall, engine driver, and wife Sarah, aged 30, born in Wendron, were living in High Street, Dalton, Lancashire.
