Abstract of the Will of Edmond Borlas of London, Mercer, written 7 Oct 1582, proved 5 Feb 1584/5. 2
Gives to his wife Suzan Borlas the lease of his house in the Old Jewry where he now lives, and the lease of his garden in Moormeade, and a variety of household stuff, including a gilt salt which his brother Salter gave him.
The rest of his goods and chattels he gives two-thirds to his wife and the other third to his son John Borlas and the rest of his children, share and share alike.
Gives good gowns to 21 poor folk.
Gives mourning gowns to his friends and servants.
Gives £5 to Christ's Hospital.
Gives 20 shillings to the poor prisoners in Newgate.
Gives 20 shillings to the poor of Ludgate.
Gives 20 shillings to the poor of Southwark.
Gives £3 to the poor of the Kings Bench, Marshalsea and the White Lion.
