Ancestor of Borlase of Buckinghamshire.
In 1535, is the following notice of Walter Borlas in conjunction with his brother Edward:-
"Edward Borlas, Citizen and Mercer of London, Robert Moyle, Walter Borlas, Thomas Stowford, gent., John Cole, William Bruyn, and Barnard Buller, by Thomas Hawes their Attorney, demand against Edward Kyngdon, gent., 6 messuages, 60 acres of land, 10 acres of meadow, and 20 acres of pasture, with appurtenances, in Mynhenylle, "Sancti Martini," Elynbere, Northille, and in the Boro' of Launceston; and in the county of Devon, 5 messuages, 40 acres of land, 10 acres of meadow, 10 acres of pasture, also common of pasture for 40 beasts and 100 sheep, with appurtenances, in Tavestok and Stondone." 2

Gives to the church of St. Martins 3 shillings 4 pence for tithes forgotten.
Gives £10 to his mother Margaret Tregyan.
Gives to his wife the lease of his dwelling house, along with the rents and profits of his tenement called Perwyncles with its garden plot and lands within the parishes of Myddleton and Syttyngborne, until his eldest son, John Burlas, comes of age.
Of the remainder of his goods, he gives one half to Joane his wife and the other half to his four children, namely John, Edward, William and William Borlas. If said sons should die before they reach their lawful ages, then he wills their shares go to Elizabeth Ramsey, daughter of Parnell, his first wife; to Alice Bawldwyn, his lord Bawldwyn's daughter; to William, James and Phillipp Marstonne, children of his second wife Margaret; to Johan, Anne and Wenefrede Bolney, children of the said Johanne, his current wife; and to the two youngest daughters of his brother Walter Borlas.
Directs that his wife Johan shall have the occupying? of William Marston's stock of his orphanage until William comes of age. And likewise the orphanage of James Bolney's children.
Appoints his wife Johan sole executrix of his will, and as overseers Sir John Baldwyn, Knight, Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas, and Sir Michael Dormer, Knight and Alderman of London, giving his overseers 20 shillings each for their pains.
