THE PRIVATE SECRETARY.—Mr. E. H. Merivale Drury will accompany His Excellency Sir Alfred Moloney to England. Mr. Drury Wake will be private secretary to Sir Courtenay Knollys when acting as Governor. Mr. Wake is expected to arrive in the colony in about 5 weeks' time.

MR. E. H. MERIVALE DRURY.—It was an open secret that Mr. E. H. Merivale Drury terminated his engagement as private secretary to Sir Alfred Maloney on his departure on leave. Mr. Drury has since been appointed to a post in the Colonial Secretary's office in St. Helena.

St. Helena Official.

Late Colonel Drury's Son.

In the "St. Helena Guardian," a newspaper published at St. Helena, the Island of Napoleon's captivity, there appears the following official notification : —

" His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Edward Herbert Merivale Drury. Esq.. J.P.. barrister-at-law. to be a stipendiary magistrate in this colony. The appointment to date from the 7th instant.

" By command, E. H. Merivale Drury, for Colonial Secretary.

The Castle, St. Helena, 8th November, 1904."

The Mr. Drury referred to in this notification is eldest son of the late Colonel E. R. Drury and a nephew of Mr. A. V. Drury, late clerk of the Queensland Executive Council.

On 3 Dec 1923 Edward Herbert Merivale Drury, Esquire, M.B.E., was appointed to act as Resident Magistrate, with jurisdiction in the Ngwato District [in Botswana]. 3

On 17 Mar 1924 Edward Herbert Merivale Drury, Esquire, M.B.E., was appointed to act as Resident Magistrate, with jurisdiction in the Tuli Block District [Botswana]. 4
