CORONER'S INQUEST.—On Tuesday last an inquest was held at the coroner's private residence (in consequence of indisposition,) on the body of Matilda Crowhurst, aged 34. Mr. Thomas Clayton was the foreman. It appeared that deceased, who was a native of Bexhill, in Sussex, had been lodging for about three weeks at a house in St. Faith-street, kept by a person named Fowle—the greater part of which time she had been intoxicated, particularly during the last week—on one day of which she drank a pint of brandy and a pint of gin ! On Sunday morning, at about nine o'clock, she was found lying on the floor in her bed-room in a state of intoxication. Dr. Chalmers was immediately sent for, who ordered a warm bath, but before they could get her into it she died. At the request of the jury, the inquest was adjourned till the next day to allow of a post mortem examination. Upon their re-assembling and hearing the evidence of Dr. Chalmers, they returned a verdict of "Died from excessive drinking."
