In 1638 John Hewett received 20 shillings from the Will of his late great-aunt Agnes Woolfe of Hailsham, widow.
Writing his Will in April 1639 John Bright of Hailsham bequeathed to his son-in-law John Hewet £5 and the lease of his house and lands, making him sole executor and residuary legatee of his last will and testament.
