In 1861 Hannah Matthews, aged 43, born in Lydiard Millicent Wilts and husband William Matthews, aged 42, born in Lydiard Millicent, gardener, were living at 19 Cardigan St., Oxford St. Thomas, Oxfordshire. With them were children (born in Oxford): Walter (11), errand boy, Amelia (9), scholar, Emily (5), scholar.

SUDDEN DEATH.—W. Brunner, Esq., Coroner, held an inquest at the house of William Matthews, a gardener, living in Cardigan-street, Jericho, on Tuesday, touching the death of Hannah Matthews, 53 years of age, wife of the said William Matthews. On Monday morning she rose, and her husband saw she was vomiting blood. He got her some water to drink, but in a few minutes she died. As she had been suffering from illness for some time, the Jury returned a verdict of "Died from natural causes."
