In 1659 Nowell Tonkin the younger was witness to the will of Roger Bryant of Paul.
Writing his will in 1674 John Lanyon, merchant of Plymouth, made bequests to his sister Susanna and her husband Nowell Tonkin.
In November 1692 Nowell Tonkin, Philip Tregurtha and William Tonkin, took inventory of the goods, chattels and credits of John Tonkin of Newlyn in the parish of Paul, yeoman.

Abstract of the Will of Nowell Tonkin of Newlyn in the Parish of Paul and County of Cornwall, Merchant, written 1 Aug 1696, proved 14 Jan 1698/9. 2
Gives £5 each to his daughter Dorothy and her husband of Henry Jones, Esquire, to buy them rings, having already given his daughter a considerable portion at her marriage, and a bond for £500 to his said son-in-law, Henry Jones.
Gives a gold ring each to his brothers-in-law Nicholas Hicks and Phillip Hicks, and to his cousin George Bere, gentleman.
Gives to his wife either a dwelling called Gaskons house or a dwelling called Walter Cocks house, both in Newlyn, whichever suits her best.
Gives to his wife two beds with furnishings and whatever household goods are useful to her, including whatever items are in his closet.
All the rest of his goods, chattels and personal estate he gives to his son Henry, appointing him sole executor of his last will and testament.
Also gives to his son Henry and his heirs all his lands, tenements and hereditaments for the term of his natural life. If his son Henry has no issue, then he gives the same to his wife Lydia and his daughter Dorothy Jones and their heirs. And in default of issue, he gives the same to his nephew Nowell Tonkin son of William Tonkin.
Nominates his wife, his son-in-law Henry Jones, his daughter Dorothy, his brothers-in-law Nicholas Hicks and Phillip Hicks, and his cousin George Bere, trustees and overseers of his will, during the minority of his son.
