At the time of the 1871 England Census George Callaway, aged 36, born in Newington Kent, widower, pawnbroker, were living at 42 Rectory Place, Woolwich St. Mary, London. With him were children (born in Woolwich Kent): Maria A (13), Ellen (10), Eliza (6), William (5), Harriet A (4), aunt Barbara Wyles (64), widow, and cousin Florence Whyles (27), unmarried.

At the time of the 1881 England Census George Callaway, aged 46, born in Newington Kent, pawnbroker, and [2nd] wife Barbara V, aged 38, born in Newington, were living at 42 Rectory Place, Woolwich St. Mary, London. Present were children (born in Woolwich): Maria Ann (23), Harriet A (13), scholar, and Frank (4).

At the time of the 1891 England Census George Callaway, aged 56, born in Newington Kent, pawnbroker, and wife Barbara V, aged 47, born in Newington, were living at 42 Rectory Place, Woolwich St. Mary, London. With them were children (born in Woolwich): Maria A (33), dress milliner, Ellen (29), Harriet A (25).

At the time of the 1901 England Census George Callaway, aged 66, born in Newington Kent, pawnbroker, and wife Barbara V, aged 57, born in Newington, were living at 42 Rectory Place, Woolwich St. Mary, London. With them were children (born in Woolwich): Maria A (43), milliner, Ellen (39), draper, Harriet A (33) and Frank (24), post office clerk.

The death took place on Sunday of Mr. George Callaway, aged 74, at his residence, 42, Rectory-place. The deceased was engaged for many years at Messrs. Birt and Son's, Green's-end Woolwich. The remains will be interred at Woolwich Cemetery to-day (Friday)....
