Family name also spelled PENDAR.
---------------------------
Oliver Pender is named in the pedigree of Pender of Budockvean in the Visitation of Cornwall as son of Oliver Pender and Susan Carne. 2 He is shown as having married twice, first to Margaret Keigwin in 1699 and second to Rachel Seccombe in 1707. This is incorrect. Oliver Pender (who married Margaret) died in 1733, and his widow Margaret Pender was granted Administration of his effects (see below). Margaret Pender, widow, left a will in 1740 in which she is called widow of Oliver Pender. In other words, Margaret's husband, Oliver Pender, was not the same Oliver Pender who married Rachel Seccombe.
In February 1709/10 Oliver Pender of the parish of Paul was a bondsman for the Administration of the goods &c. of Christopher Pender Jr. of Penzance, apothecary, Oliver Pender of Paul and James Jenkin Jr. of Madron, gent. having first taken inventory of Christopher Pender Jr.'s goods & chattels. Administration was granted to Christopher Pender (Sr.), stated to be father of the deceased.
Christopher Pender of Penzance, Gent. (i.e. the father of Christopher Pender Jr. above) was buried in Madron on 15 Apr 1716. In his will he names as beneficiaries his wife Jacqueline, his daughter Joan Pender and his son Oliver Pender.
In 1727 Jone Pender of Penzance, milliner, made her will in which she identifies her brother Oliver Pender of Newlyn, merchant. She also names his eldest son John Pender, calling him nephew, as well as her nephew Christopher Pender and his sisters Margaret and Ann (who appear in the Madron register as Oliver's daughters).
In short, Oliver Pender who married Margaret Keigwin was the son of Christopher Pender and Jacqueline his wife, and has been conflated in the Visitation with Oliver son of Oliver Pender and Susan Carne. 3

Oliver Pendar of the parish of Paul died without making a will. Bond upon the Administration of his goods and so forth was granted 20 Sep 1733 to Margaret Pendar, the widow and relict of the said deceased. 4
