The Will of Joane Kempe of Rosteage in the Parish of Gerrans in the County of Cornwall, Widow, written 3 Nov 1652, proved 2 Aug 1653. 3

In the Name of God Amen I Joane Kempe of Roseteage in the parish of Gerrans widdow beeing sicke of Body but perfect in minde and memorie (praysed bee God) doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge

First I give and bequeath my soule into the handes of my Saviour Jesus Christ trusting onely through his merritts and satisfaction to attaine eternall blisse and my body to bee decently buryed,

Item I give to the poore of the parish of Gerrans Twenty shillinges

Item I give to John Kempe my eldest son twelve pence,

Item I give to my grandchilde Nicholas Kempe Twelve pence,

Item I give to my grandchilde John Kempe one ewe lambe

Item I give to my grandchildren Thamsin Kempe and Anne Kempe twelve pence a peice,

Item I give unto Wilmett Kempe one peice of gold of five shillings

Item I give unto Mary Kempe my daughter in Law one peice of gold of twenty shillinges

Item I give unto Grace Kempe my daughter in Law one peice of gold of twentie shillinges

Item I give unto my daughter Philip Fuidge one peice of gold of twentie shillinges

Item I give unto my sonne in Law Edward Hobbs Twentie poundes ,

Item I give unto my sonne in Law Richard Webber Tenne poundes ,

Item I give unto my fower sonnes Anthonie Kempe Nicholas Kempe Richard Kempe and James Kempe fower of my best bedds togeather wth fower bolsters wth Coverletts Blanketts and sheetes belongeinge to the same

All the rest of my goodes and chattells not given nor disposed of I give and bequeath to bee equally devided betweene my sayd fower younger sonns and my three youngest daughters Anne Susan and Rebecca And I doe constitute and appoint my sonns Anthonie Kempe Nicholas Kempe Richard Kempe and James Kempe and my sonne in Law Edward Hobbs to bee my whole and onely Executors ioyntlie and severally to see this my will and testament to bee duely and truely executed and performed in every thinge.

  Marriage Information:

Joane married Nicholas Kempe, son of John Kempe and Winifred Penkivell, about 1619. (Nicholas Kempe was born about 1593 in Lavethan, Cornwall and was buried on 30 Jan 1645/6 in Gerrans, Cornwall.)
