TREBILCOCK.-May 16th, 1940, at Porth Bay Hotel, Newquay, Mary Elizabeth, widow of the late Capt. R. J. Trebilcock, of 4, Beacon Terrace, Newquay, aged 75 years. Also William James Trebilcock, eldest son of above, died in New Zealand, September 30th, 1939, aged 56 years.

OBITUARY
MR. W. J. TREBILCOCK
The death occurred at Gore on Saturday morning of Mr. William James Trebilcock, who was in business at Gore for many years as a signwriter and interior decorator. Mr. Trebilcock was a native of Cornwall, England, and when a young man he came to New Zealand in company with a cousin. Both were signwriters by trade and they began business at Invercargill. Mr. Trebilcock was aged 55.
After several years at Invercargill Mr. Trebilcock returned to England, and when he returned to New Zealand he was accompanied by his wife, formerly Miss Mary Augusta Brock, also a native of Cornwall.
During the last 25 years Mr. Trebilcock was a well-known figure in Gore. He was an expert tradesman and his signwriting and other work bore the hallmark of excellence. For many years he played a prominent part in the musical life of the town. He possessed a fine tenor voice and assisted at many concerts. He was a member of the once famous "Wanderers," a band of leading male Gore singers. Mr. Trebilcock also sang in the choir of the Gore Methodist Church.
For 18 years he served on the East Gore school committee and was a chairman for a period. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. F. C. Wylie, of Gore.
