NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership lately subsisting between us the undersigned, Samuel James Vivian and Alfred Denbow, as Merchants and Shipbrokers, Valuers and Surveyors of Shipping and General Commission Agents, at Swansea, in the county of Glamorgan, under the firm of Samuel J. Vivian and Co., was this day dissolved by mutual consent. And that all debts due and owing to or by the late firm will be received and paid by the said Samuel James Vivian. - As witness our hands this 31st day of December, 1867.

At the time of the 1880 U.S. Federal Census Samuel J. Vivian, aged 52, born in England, and wife Charlotte Vivian, aged 49, born in England, keeps house, were living in Empire, Clear Creek, Colorado. With them was son Herbert (21) of England.
In 1885, Samuel J Vivian, aged 57, born in England, miner, and wife Charlotte Vivian, aged 54, born in England, housewife, were living in Empire, Clear Creek, Colorado.
Samuel's only child, Herbert, died in 1891 in Denver, Colorado, aged 34 years.
