"A MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT occurred at North Roskear Mine, on Tuesday, the 14th Inst. Between 12 and 1 o'clock, a lad 17 years old, on of Francis Trevillian, of Treswithian Downs, in this parish, went to bathe in the Engine Pool, near the Account House, the water being about 7 feet deep. It is thought that he intended to swim across the pool, but while in the act of doing so, he took fear and sank. His body was taken out, and a medical gentleman was soon in attendance, but it was found that he was quite dead." 3
