In 1835 Johnson Paynter was a beneficiary of the will of his brother Francis Paynter of Denmark Hill, who left him £200.
In 1841 Johnson Paynter, aged about 75, born in the county, farmer, and wife Catherine Paynter, aged about 75, born in the county, were living in Trevisker, St. Eval, Cornwall. With them were sons Samuel (40) and John (30), [granddaughter] Catherine Rundell (22), F[arm] S[ervant]

Gives £1 to his daughter Betsy the wife of James Rundel.
All the rest of his goods, chattels, estate and effects, he gives to his wife Catherine for her own use. If his wife should remarry, he gives to his sons James, William and Samuel the sum of £50 each, to his sons Thomas, Francis and John £100 each, and to his daughters Kitty and Eliza, £70 each.
Appoints his wife Catherine sole executrix of his last will and testament.
