In 1811 William Smith was a beneficiary of his father's will, receiving £100.

In 1841 William Smith, aged 55, born in the county, copper miner, and wife Jenefer, aged 45, born in the county, were living in Treswithian Downs, Camborne, Cornwall. With them were children William (15), copper miner, Anne (15), copper ore dresser, Christinia (14), copper ore dresser, John (12), copper mine boy, Jemimah (9). William's mother-in-law, Mary Luke (80), was living nextdoor.
