DEATH OF MR. S. D. BENNETT, REDRUTH.

A member of an old Cornish mining family passed away at South Albany Road, Redruth, on Thursday, in the person of Mr. Samuel Dunn Bennett. Mr. Bennett, who was 82 years of age, was father of the Rev. E. E. Bennett, the pastor of Fore Street Church, and was for many years engaged in the prison service, and retired some twenty years ago from the position of deputy governor of Stafford prison. He had been in failing health for some time, but attended Fore Street Church as recently as a fortnight ago.

Mr. Bennett was born at Pengegon, Camborne, one of 11 children of the late Capt. Henry Bennett, of South Condurrow Mine, Camborne. Capt. Bennett was a well-known mining man in the Camborne district, and a popular local preacher in the Wesleyan Methodist Circuit. Capt. Bennett's sons included Capt. Henry Bennett (who succeeded him as manager of South Condurrow), the Rev. Josiah Bennett, of U.M. Church, and Mr. Richard Bennett, of Liskeard, who went to Canada about eight years ago, and took charge of a church in Nova Scotia, and died there some two years ago. Another brother, Mr. William Bennett, is in Butte, Montana. Mr. Bennett leaves an aged widow.

The funeral took place on Monday at the Redruth Cemetery, the Revs. S. Wright (Camborne) and F. E. Poad officiating. The mourners were the Rev. E. E. Bennett (son), Messrs. Gordon Bennett and Raymond Bennett (grandsons), W. Bennett (Callington), R. Bennett (Callington), B. Bennett and H. Bennett (Brea), H. Bennett (Callington), nephews ; and G. Dean....
