In 1861 Martha Spackman, aged 15, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, scholar, was with her parents in High Street, Wootton Bassett.

In 1881 Martha Carew, aged 36, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, and husband Samuel Carew, aged 40, born in Somt [Somerset], grocer, were living in Nellie House, Cardiff St. Mary, Glamorgan Wales. With them were sons (born in Cardiff) Charles (8) and Edgar (6), and Martha's sister Sophia Spackman (19) of Wootton Bassett, general servant.

In 1891 Martha Carew, aged 45, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, and husband Samuel Carew, aged 50, born in West Camel Somerset, retired grocer, were living at 3 Peirsy? Road, Keynsham Somerset. With them was son Edgar J (16) of Cardiff Glamorgan, grocer's assistant.

In 1901 Martha Carew, aged 55, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, and husband Samuel Carew, aged 60, born in W: Camel Somerset, butter merchant, were living at 28 Stackpool Rd., Bristol Gloucestershire.

In 1911 Martha Carew, aged 65, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts (mother of 2 children), assisting in the business, and husband of 40 years Samuel Carew, aged 70, born in West Camel Somerset, butter merchant, were living at 28 Stackpool Rd., Bristol Gloucestershire.
